Mineplex User Suggestions
Could be limited to how many you could do daily to prevent trolling
Depends on how mineplex wants to go about this, however, I think downvotes can provide important information about how people are receiving ideas. There’s always trolling which is a shame, but maybe downvotes can be limited like you suggested, or downvotes can only be added after a comment is made (not sure how this would work though). I feel like just ignoring something you disagree with or to a degree making a comment won’t make that relevant a difference.
honestly, I'd rather have players just post why they don't like an idea in the comments. Most people will downvote it without explaining why or providing feedback
@emmalie it quantifies it though. Comments don't quantify how many people dislike an idea, and not everyone will go to the effort of explaining why. You could just as easily argue that point for upvotes.
@Fall My concern is that trolls will just come in and downvote something just to be negative and ruin it. We want to promote discussion and giving others feedback and I don't see how downvoting will help with that
Yes make them suffer like #suggestions Adam
@EmmaLie to be fair a lot of people do the same by upvoting things and not explaining their feedback. I think downvoting will help in that the person who posted the idea can see why others disagree. Like others said, comments don't qualify on how many people wouldn't like the idea.
-1---@EmmaLie states the issue, and it's genuinely a fair point. If you don't like the idea - don't upvote it. Keeps things cleaner on here and if you don't like it you can state it. Within the ideas team they use Trello and that doesn't have a downvote (or an upvote to be fair) and that's done through the comments. Same with posts on the website. With this logic, upvotes could be removed, BUT this is for features to add, so upvotes are a clear positive.
downvotes could be displayed separately. would be nice if we could also upvote comments. that way not everyone who disagrees has to type things out as they can simply upvote someone who's already said basically the same thing. the way the system is currently set up skews heavily toward "implement implement implement"
I think even without comments, downvotes play a very important role in decision making. You can't force people to leave a comment explaining why they don't like an idea, and I bet 9 times out of 10, players who disagree with a point are just scrolling past without leaving any feedback at all; not even an upvote. So yes, I definitely think this should be a thing. For the record, I also think it should be a thing for regular forum posts too.
-1There's no need for a downvote system really, if you don't like an idea, just don't upvote it, it's that simple. If a downvote system were to be added, perhaps you would have to make a comment before being able to downvote?
Nope. It makes people feel extremely bad to have more dislikes than likes, and we already have enough of that on the regular forums, I should know. 10-
I wouldn't mind a downvote option, but I'd rather have players posting why they disliked an idea as opposed to just downvoting it and not commenting.
